At 8:30 am we will meet at our offices in Madrid. After a journey of approximately one hour by bus, we will arrive at San Lorenzo del Escorial , a town known for hosting amazing historical monuments.
Upon arrival, we will visit the interior of the Monastery , built in the 16th century by Philip II and declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Then we will see the Royal Palace, the Marble Pantheon of the Kings, the Chapter Rooms, the Cloister of the Evangelists and the elegant Basilica. If you are a lover of history and architecture, you will be enchanted by these sites.
Next, we will travel about ten minutes until we reach the Valley of the Fallen, a monumental complex built in commemoration of those killed during the Spanish Civil War. Here you will appreciate the majestic cross of about 150 meters high, the Basilica and the Crypt excavated in the mountain, where they buried the bodies of many victims of war. Of course we will not leave here without stopping for a while to enjoy the fabulous views offered by the mountains of Madrid.
After the visit to the Valley, we will return to Madrid (around 1:00 p.m.) to rest and enjoy lunch (in a restaurant in the Plaza de España area) .
With the energies already answered, we will meet at 3:00 p.m. at the agreed meeting point to continue on our way to Segovia, a must-see destination!
The city is famous for its Roman Aqueduct, one of the most important civil engineering works worldwide. We will walk through the Plaza del Azoguejo, an ideal point to admire the Aqueduct. Then, we will enjoy a walk through the Old town, where you can visit Town Hall Square, contemplate the inside of the Gothic Cathedral and go finally to the Alcazar of Segovia to enjoy outsides. This Alcazar was built in the 12th century and was the former residence of the kings of Castile.
When leaving the Alcazar, you will have free time before returning to Madrid. We will arrive at approximately 20:00 at the Plaza de España, where our excursion ends.
